Improving Health Outcomes
UNSW’s world-leading medical researchers are addressing some of society’s most pressing health challenges. From eliminating infectious diseases to research into brain ageing, aggressive cancers and rising mental health issues, our researchers are a collaborative community of experts at the forefront of their respective disciplines.
The Dementia Momentum, Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA)
The challenges of dementia are enormous and confronting. New findings from epidemiological and clinical trials provide evidence that it is possible to delay the onset of dementia and support an argument for large-scale investment to prevent dementia. CHeBA's research aims to determine which risk and protective factors for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias are universal. The Dementia Momentum seeks to increase the dialogue with the community about this disease and invest in social change by advancing large-scale, big-data research being conducted at CHeBA.
The Kirby Institute
The Kirby Institute is a world-leading health research institute at UNSW Sydney. Dedicated to a world free of infectious disease, The Kirby Institute works to eliminate infectious disease globally through developed health solutions, to build a safer, healthier world for everyone.
New Cancer Cures
The Cancer Cell Immortality Group undertakes research in cancer cell immortality mechanisms and uses this knowledge to develop new cancer therapeutics and diagnostics. The Cancer Cell Immortality Group is part of the Adult Cancer Program at the Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW Sydney.
School of Psychiatry Mental Health Research
The School of Psychiatry at UNSW is one of Australia’s pre-eminent psychiatric research departments with a wide range of research interests. Donations will provide funding for research purposes within the School and will also provide access to research equipment within the field of psychiatry.
Tackling Climate Change
With the world warming, ice melting and sea levels rising, there is no doubt Climate Change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. At UNSW researchers are working on a wide range of initiatives across faculties and disciplines to help to manage Climate Change and its effects.
Sunswift Racing
Sunswift Racing is a team of innovators working to redefine the future of sustainable transport through the research and development of solar electric vehicle technologies. While Sunswift is best known for its success in the World Solar Challenge, the team also focus on progressing technology through partnerships and collaborations with industry leaders.
Donations to this fund will support students who are participating in the Sunswift Racing Team and will go towards purchasing materials, accommodation and travel.
Wild Deserts
Wild Deserts is an exciting project with a vision to understand, restore and promote desert ecosystems. Wild Deserts aim to return seven locally extinct mammals to north-west NSW.
ChallENG
The ChallENG Program connects UNSW Engineering students, academics and industry to exciting, real-world, project-based learning initiatives. The ChallENG Program exposes students to a multidisciplinary learning approach that emphasises the development of technical and design skills, and expands their professional experience.
Many of the projects developed via ChallENG have a positive impact on the environment and Climate Change.
Student Equity Initiatives
UNSW is committed to ensuring that our undergraduate student body is representative of our diverse society and that attaining a place at university is not dependent on background or financial circumstance. To achieve this, we have pledged that 25% of our undergraduate student body will be made up of underrepresented students (low SES) during the next five years.
The UNSW Gateway Admission Pathway and Program
The Gateway Admission Pathway and Program supports students who are traditionally underrepresented at university. This includes students from low-SES backgrounds, educationally disadvantaged schools, regional and remote areas, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and migrant and refugee backgrounds. Gateway combines educational outreach with an equitable admission pathway to enhance students' academic attainment and increase their access to UNSW with priority consideration for UNSW Equity Scholarships.

Equity Scholarships support low-socioeconomic and underrepresented students starting out at UNSW.
UNSW Student Emergency Response Fund
The UNSW Student Emergency Response Fund is a philanthropic initiative to provide financial aid to both domestic and international students who are facing financial and other hardships. This fund is utilised to provide Emergency Support Payments, Emergency E-Vouchers and Emergency Grants of up to $2,000 to students in need.

Voice, Treaty, Truth
The Uluru Dialogues is progressing the Uluru Statement for the Heart - an invitation from First Nations to “walk with us in a movement of the Australian people for a better future”. It was issued to the Australian people in May 2017 following almost two years of work and calls for structural reform including constitutional change to establish a new relationship between First Nations and the Australian nation based on justice and self-determination. With this, Indigenous cultures and peoples can flourish, and we all move forward.
Nura Gili: Centre for Indigenous Programs
Nura Gili is the student-facing services, programs and study facility at UNSW. By providing Pre-Program pathways for prospective Indigenous students, Nura Gili seeks to enhance the student experience for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at UNSW.
UNSW Indigenous Scholarships
The UNSW Indigenous Scholarships Program aims to encourage and assist Indigenous Australian students to undertake study at UNSW. Working in partnership with Nura Gili, UNSW Indigenous Scholarships cater for all Indigenous students seeking to study at UNSW.
Critical Refugee Assistance
More than 68 million people worldwide are displaced from their homes – the highest number since the Second World War. These people have often faced significant hardships before they arrive in Australia. Through policy, research and practical financial scholarships, UNSW is playing a significant role in advocating for better outcomes for refugees both in Australia and overseas.

The Andrew & Renata Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law is a world-leading research centre driving lawful, sustainable and humane solutions for displaced people around the world. A trusted voice on refugee issues, the Kaldor Centre informs public debate, policy and law reform to advance real-world change for – and with – people forced from their homes.
Sanctuary Scholarship for People Seeking Asylum and Refugees with Temporary Protection
The Sanctuary Scholarship for People Seeking Asylum and Refugees with Temporary Protection provides a full tuition fee scholarship paid directly towards tuition, $5,000 stipend per year and up to $25,000 for UNSW accommodation.
Welcome Scholarship for Students from Refugee Backgrounds
The Welcome Scholarship for Students from Refugee Backgrounds provides assistance to refugee students with financial support up to $10,000 per year. This will assist students with costs of living and materials needed for studying.

Australia Ensemble
Australia Ensemble UNSW is Australia's leading chamber music ensemble that presents an annual subscription season and free concert and workshop series at UNSW. The Ensemble is part of the Music Performance Unit, which is an important aspect of the cultural life of the University.
